Benson from Mallard Creek High School was the I Meck Conference player of the year, and Hopwell shared the I Meck conference regular season title with Mallard Creek & Lake Norman, all three schools were 10-2. Just setting the record straight.
Whatever
Early was player of the year. See link below for full details.
http://prepinsiders.blogspot.com/2010/03/nc-preps-all-state-and-area-all.html
Please add Nation ford High in Fort Mill and Northwestern High in Rock Hill
I hope that the Observer covers all teams equally to the extent that they can. Please I do not want to see a repeat of what happened 2 years ago when kids left North Meck and went to Lake Norman and the Observer took a whole season to cover them in a positive light. Fast Forward will the Observer do the same thing with Davidson Day because kids left North Meck and Langston is a friend of coach Lewis.
yeah don't worry about charlotte country day or providence day, there not important right because their private schools? way to go charlotte observer just proving my point about how far yall are up cms's ass.
I seriously doubt you go to Providence Day or Charlotte Country Day. They can spell the word 'there' and 'their' correctly at that school. But, if you do go 'there' then I'm glad my kid doesn't go to your school.
This T'Shea Glenn. I play for Concord First Assembly,my name is not TaSha Miller.
So where's Cannon's listing? You've got the girls listed under the boy's teams and no listing for the girls? And alphabetically Concord Cannon? Who looks for Cannon under 'Concord'? It's a great town, but most of the students are from Charlotte and Lake Norman. LW, you can do better than that!
The Cannon boys have not returned the information request. All schools were asked to report by Monday at noon. All coaches were directly emailed and for the handful we couldn't reach, the AD was emailed. We did not get a response from Cannon and several other schools. We'd like this report to be comprehensive as possible, but it's not always possible.
will you be covering Covenant Classical School in Concord? They are not very good now but I heard they have a pretty good 8th grader playing varsity.
why are you all whining and complaining about who's on here and who's not? There are alot of teams in this area and if the coach's and AD's dont respond back what is the Observer supposed to do? The good players will get their time when the season gets going, good grief!!!
i agree these people have nothing better to do than complain? wow! by the way a newspaper with a sports section covers sports right? what difference does it make then if a player transfers, they still cover the sport. I guess they never should have covered Independence all those years, lol.
people chill out. understand it is the coaches responsibility to report this preseason info to the observer. if your school is not mentioned, then your coach did not do his/her job. if your son/daughter is not mentioned, then maybe it is for a reason (your coach didn't think it was worth mentioning)
Please add Gray Stone Day School, Boys and Girls, they have several new faces that could help their teams improve on wins.
Thanks
I don't think people should chill out - if that's the case don't list ANYONE. The reason people are complaining is not just that a coach may or may not have done their job but partly because there is a biasness with the Observer. People should hold the Observer accountable for what they print because there are players worthy to be mentioned who aren't and others who receive the "hype" because of who their coaches are friends with. It's unfair to list a few and miss a few.
I agree that coaches should do their jobs.If they did no one would complain. So here's a challenge to any coach who noticed a mistake - please send the correction. It may mean a lot to your players. Most kids do print off and save articles with their names in it. While as an adult we understand it doesn't mean much - to these athletes who have worked hard in some cases - it means a lot.
There are a lot of talented young ladies playing in the coming 2010-2011 basketball season. There's a lot of whining about who was omitted from the Observer report. Well to be fair to all the young ladies playing, just tell them to bring their "A" game all season long. Then you won't have to worry about who was omitted from the Observer because if they bring their "A" game, they will be seen and recogonized for their talents. Good luck ladies & hope you have a safe & successful season!
Hellooooo, Essence Baucom & the Quinn sisters were recognized under Phillip O'Berry. Maybe speed reading isn't for you.
You Guys & Gals are Hilarius! lol Why can't you just let them play! You can't talk your child into the game. They have to represent when the coach puts them on the floor. If any one of these kids earn a scholarship to any college - you can bet the observer will publish it. Stop being so sensitive! Fair or Not - just about everything & event advances forward based on who you know. Favors & Favor are always going to be apart of what we do in life. It is far more important for you as parents to praise your child than anyone's newspaper. The bigger deal you as a parent make out of what you feel is a disparity for your child - the bigger deal the kids will make out of it. Don't give them a crutch just let them play the game. Their talents will speak for themselves.
Langston. Please do everyone a favor and disable comments on theses articles. I have never seen more deluded people in my life. Please
I can understand why the North Meck girls didn't report. They were bad last year and will probably be worse this year. That women can't coach. Ask the folks at Vance
We like our North Meck Ladies BB Coach just fine. Quit your hating. It seems like Vance got a good deal with their ladies basketball coach also. The games last year between the two programs were close. Let the girls do their talking with their effort on the court and in the classroom!
I don't think Gosnell White(Marvin Ridge) has been coaching HS for 33 yrs. It's more like 23. Just wanted to let you guys know.
Hahaha....this is comical! Leave the girls alone and just let them play. The Observer is what it is and the writers have always had their favorites. Maybe if the parents would relax a little and worry more about if their kids a re truly happy instead of how many times their names are mentioned in the paper everyone would be much happier..especially the kids. Everything happens for a reason and and if it was meant to be it will be! There is more to life than basketball!
I agree with an ealier blog stating that LW only covers CMS. How many times can you write about the same kid! There are great players in Concord and other surronding counties, check them out. From what I saw in the above articcle there is a kid at Central that is leading in scoring. There is a kid at Conord and at JM Robinson that have not had honorable mentions as well. Other kids that can play deserve the hype too!!!!!!!
South Meck HS BBALL INFORMATION????????
Does it really count if school A illegally recruits four players from it's rivals and then is ranked ahead of everyone? CMS needs to put this garbage in check. At least a certain private school doesn't pretend that it doesn't recruit when it reloads it's dynasty...Congrats to all the girls who just play legitimately for their own team and stay in ONE SCHOOL for four years!
"Concord" Cox Mill? Wheres that?
Cox Mill High School does NOT need that old ragged small ex cotten mill town name in front of it EVER. Their annexation of this area was abuse of the laws of the state. Didnt you hear that Bruton Smith is trying to un-annex this area and rename it?
Its COX MILL only !!!!
why don't the have girls basketball information for the new school Rocky River High even though its new and all they still have some talent on the team just saying........
