Mallard Creek's Harbison commits to Minnesota

Mallard Creek wide receiver Jamel Harbison committed to Minnesota, coach Mike Palmieiri said.

Harbison has 21 receptions for 372 yards and seven touchdowns and is among the top 10 in receptions and receiving touchdowns in the Observer's 131-school coverage area in North and South Carolina. Scout.com, a national recruiting website, lists him a 3-star recruit. Harbison, 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, runs a 4.5 second 40.

Harbison and the Mavericks (6-0) play North Mecklenburg Thursday.

No way he stays committed to Minn. They must have laid it on thick but other schools more local will be on him i am sure it is about that time when it ramps up..

Why is everyone on this kid for going so far away? Maybe he likes cold weather, I know I loved the Minnesota winters. Most importantly though, I think it's great that there are "SOME" kids that want to get away from here and see other areas. When I moved here 15 years ago it sickened me to talk to so many people who have never left this state except to go to Myrtle Beach. Good job young man, I hope you follow through with it.
