Myers Park kicker Miller Snyder commits to UNC

Myers Park kicker Miller Snyder has committed to North Carolina, Mustangs coach Greg Taylor said.

Snyder is a 6-foot-1, 180 pound senior who was picked to play in the U.S. Army All-American game in San Antonio next month. He had 48 kickoffs with 39 touchbacks this season and made 27-of-29 extra points. He was 4-for-5 on field goal attempts with a long of 39.

He kicked the game-winning field goal against South Meck for a 31-29 win earlier this year, capping a three-game win streak for his team. Snyder also averaged 39 yards per punt with only 14 returned because of the long hang time. His net punting average was 37 yards.

He picked the Tar Heels over N.C. State, Harvard and Columbia.

Congrats! Just in time to be put on probation. Why would anyone go to that train wreck of a football program?

I guess he really wants to go to the Belk Bowl his senior year and lose. I'm pretty sure those numbers suck for a kicker too.

All I have to do to get the Cock to go away is say Auburn...they just scored again.

Belk Bowl bound, you joke of a school.

Are UNC football fans really bragging about ummmm...football?!

You can scream AUBURN at your lungs, but you didn't play them. We did, twice.

Let's see UNC post a 6-2 record in the SEC. Highly unlikely. You know it. I know it. The rest of the country knows it.

Go ahead and use the excuses - you hung in there with LSU (you didn't...you were down BIG TIME and Les played his 3 deep in the first half). Now, use the NCAA infractions/allegations/illegals, etc...

UNC finished ranked for the Music City Bowl.

Let's see:

1. BCS
2. Peach
3. Champs
4. El Paso Bowl
5. Music City - BINGO

You are a mid-tier football team in a below average football conf.

SEC, Pac-10, Big 12/Big Ten, ACC, WAC, etc...

Cocks - don't bother with the UNC faithful. They are too busy lobbying for Butch's job, paying recruits, bribing tutors, aligning agents with players and gifts, etc...to be taken seriously in this debate.

They are hard pressed to understand facts and reality. The Carolina Way = Spin cycle to try and was all the DIRT away. They just fired the GM/President of their media relations bc he didn't agree with keeping Butch. Delusional. All the eggs are in one basket at this point. NO MATTER what happens, UNC will NEVER be thought of in the same light.

so funny how all the ABC'ers come out of the woodwork to post on any and all UNC threads. This one is simply a kicker committing to UNC and it starts a bunch of diatribes from the peanut gallery. Pathetic

How this kid was selected as the US Army All-American is a scandal in itself. How does a kicker who sits out his junior year and his senior has less than average stats. His stats don't even come close to the leaders in Mecklenburg county and stats aren't good enough to even be listed amongst the state wide leaders. Yet he is the High school All-American. UNC is perfect place for another scandal.

And this "mid-tier" team that each of you hate keeps getting the recruits ... so keep hating and we'll keep recruiting.

UNC-Cheat misles another youth! The most corrupt athletics and admin in the nation. CONgratulations UNC!

US Army All American Game is not a scadall at all it operated by a team of the most highly respected kicking coaches in the country that make their evaluations based on in person camp testing and HL tapes. If you look at the tape on Miller Snyder you will see the reason he had offers from not only UNC, NC State, Wake Forest, Harvard, and Columbia. To me this sounds like a great story for a kid that got injured his junior year to walk into nearly ever college camp this summer he went to and won each event from what scout.com says.Where else do ou routinely see KO's travel 5-10 yards out the back of the endzone in NC or even nationally? Maybe the ones that don't agree should challenge him to a kicking contest? Men lie women lie but tape does not and the fact that 3-4 major colleges all offered sounds like he was ok.

I agree with the poster immediately above. I have seen Snyder kick in person, head-to-head, against other Mecklenburg County, regional and national kickers. He skill is truly impressive, and he is a fine young man also.

dummy!! he will never see a bowl game...I'll bet the ranch that UNC is playing in their last bowl(Music City) for the next 5 years....The will be getting stomped by Duke in 2012 on a regular basis.
