2010 All Mecklenburg Football Team

Mallard Creek quarterback Marquise Williams had one of the best seasons in Mecklenburg County history.

Butler linebacker Kris Frost captained one of the best defenses to ever play there.

Today, Williams is named Charlotte Observer All-Mecklenburg player of the year on offense. Frost is the All-Mecklenburg defensive player of the year.

Williams, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound senior, completed 170 of 254 passes (67 percent) for 3,034 yards and 45 touchdowns. He threw only eight interceptions. Williams also rushed for 1,147 yards and 19 touchdowns. The passing yards rank 19th in county history. The passing touchdowns is sixth best in county history.

Williams led the Mavericks to a school-record wins and to the N.C. 4AA quarterfinals, as deep in the playoffs as any Mallard Creek team had gone.
Frost, a 6-3, 220-pound senior linebacker, is a U.S. Army All-American. He anchored what was arguably the state's best defense. Butler allowed 11.5 points per game by playing a demanding schedule. Most teams, including elite ones, ran away from him constantly. Frost finished with 103 total tackles and five stacks. He was a Shrine Bowl pick and will announce his college choice next month from Auburn, Louisiana State and Michigan.
Garinger interim coach Lin Fisher is the All-Meck coach of the year. Fisher took over from Terry Liggin just before the start of the season and led the Wildcats to a 7-5 record, their most wins in 20 years. Garinger had a five-game win streak in September, its longest in 16 years and hosted a playoff game, a rarity at the school.

Former Butler QB Christian LeMay practices with Georgia for 3 days

Where's Christian LeMay been?

He's been in Georgia recently and practiced with the Bulldogs for three days. LeMay skipped his senior season at Butler High after breaking a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' code of conduct rule that brought with it an out of school suspension that would've cost him nearly all of the regular season.

LeMay, who would've had to attend an alternative school during the suspension, choose to de-enroll and continue his education in what his father, Stacy, called "a private setting." LeMay needed only two credits to graduate and planned to enroll in Georgia this month.

Myers Park kicker Miller Snyder commits to UNC

Myers Park kicker Miller Snyder has committed to North Carolina, Mustangs coach Greg Taylor said.

Snyder is a 6-foot-1, 180 pound senior who was picked to play in the U.S. Army All-American game in San Antonio next month. He had 48 kickoffs with 39 touchbacks this season and made 27-of-29 extra points. He was 4-for-5 on field goal attempts with a long of 39.

He kicked the game-winning field goal against South Meck for a 31-29 win earlier this year, capping a three-game win streak for his team. Snyder also averaged 39 yards per punt with only 14 returned because of the long hang time. His net punting average was 37 yards.
