Charlotte Catholic All-American running back Elijah Hood has committed to North Carolina. Hood made the commitment one week after he decommitted from Notre Dame.
When Hood chose Notre Dame earlier this year, he said he picked the Fighting Irish over North Carolina.
Last week, Hood told the Observer that a big part of his reasoning for decommitting from Notre Dame had to do with being able to play closer to home.
Hood posted his announcement on his twitter account Tuesday after practice.
"North Carolina...feels like home," he wrote. "This decision will allow not only my family, but also my community to continue to be a part of me as I grow not only academically and physically, but in faith and maturity as well."
Hood ran for 325 yards and five touchdowns in Saturday's season-opening 35-28 win over Gonzaga College (DC). It was the eighth-best rushing performance in Mecklenburg County history and the fifth time Hood has rushed for more than 300 yards in a game.
Heading into Friday's showdown at nationally ranked Rock Hill Northwestern, Hood needs 135 yards and three touchdowns to become Mecklenburg County's all-time leader in both categories.
