Butler-Richmond Senior sign two-year deal to play football

N.C. state powers Butler and Richmond Senior have reached an agreement on a two-year contract for the teams to meet in regular-season games.

The teams will play next season on the fifth playing date in Rockingham, Butler athletics director Courtney Paschal told the Observer.

The teams will play in Charlotte in 2014.

Butler and Richmond Senior have combined to win four of the past five N.C. 4AA championships. Richmond won in 2008. Butler won in 2009, 2010 and 2012.

"sigh" Do these teams play anyone decent out of state? They likely have an 88% chance to meet in the playoffs....for the next 5 years. No slight on either program. They are two of the best in NC and produce D1 prospects. I know RC has Myrtle Beach. That's does have some interest.

Butler's jvs were terrible this year. The Newsome boys from Mint Hill are graduating and you wil see a decline while Indy passes them by.

Mallard Creek looking for week one game Indy! You dropped us 2 years ago to take North Meck. We got Butler week 2 and Catholic week 5 this year. Somebody step up.....people say we do not play anybody but no one wants to step up in CMS but Butler out of conference.

I agree. It's time for these "Powerhouses" to start playing quality out of state teams. I'd like to see Richmond/Butler against Byrnes down in S.C.....Gaffeny....or even better...DUTCH FORK!! LOL
