5A Horrid!

I love this a whole heck of a lot better for Mooresville. I hope this stays the same.

Olympic and Myers Park should be in the 5a and Independence and Rocky River should be in Conf. 4.

Anonymous said...

Porter Ridge is out of place and Charlotte Catholic is 3A,this doesnt make sense.

This is unbelievably unfair to Independence. It sits in between Porter Ridge and Butler but has been gerrymandered out to a conference 20 miles away and that doesn't play the so called white collar sports. Indy borders Cabarrus and Union counties. CMS needs to get on this NOW!

Could Mayor Biggers of Mint Hill get involved to stop this treatment of Indy?

Anonymous said...

Calling all MINT HILL families. First you didn't want your child at Indy and now that they are there you wish they would have never gone to the Matthews school.
It's time you raise heck b/c I for one don't want my child at Friday night games at WC, WM or firing range Garringer.
This is crazy that Indy is being moved from 4A to schools across town.
This needs to be fixed before the final vote.
Call Sue Duran and Que Tucker and raise heck.

Independence is just under 2100 kids, many more than most of the schools in 5a. Some of those teams in 5a don't even have jv teams. Really unfair in every way to Indy.

This stinks for Indy. The football and basketball teams will be fine but all other teams soccer, baseball, tennis, softball, and maybe track will all suffer.
Why is Butler going to AK and SM when Indy and RR are 10 mins away. This makes no sense. Why not leave it the way it is and not bring the new schools from Union, private and AL Brown in. Let them play in there own areas.

Whose is making these conferences? I sounds like the fired I mean retired Butler folks are behind this just to mess with Indy.
Did the former principals, AD, coaches and Area Superindent have a say in this?
I was hoping Newsome was done with Meck county and now he's back. He needs to be brand from ever having anything to do with CMS again.

Indy does NOT belong in that 5a conf. This will cripple some of the so-called "minor" sports. This nonsense needs to be stopped.

Anonymous said...

It seems that someone who doesn't know any better has Indy tagged as one of the CMS "urban" schools. We are in Mint Hill!

Anonymous said...

The guys in Raleigh don't know the characteristics of the schools or the traffic patterns of Charlotte. How much does the CMS ad make, 150k? If she lets Indy get trucked like this she should be fired!

Anonymous said...

Anyone know what Amy Dellinger @ IHS is saying about this? Or the AD -Kelly Lewis?

Anonymous said...

They sent in a response saying they don't like it and no way is it random by geography. Mint Hill people, we need to organize. Perhaps Olympic or Porter Ridge would like to trade? If not, why the blank is Myers Park in the sw4a when it is 15 miles closer to all the schools in the conference?

Anonymous said...

We could move about 3 miles and be out of the Indy district and into either the Porter Ridge or Butler district. The kids like Independence and we would like to stay there, but this may be the final straw.

Anonymous said...

With this lineup Indy will win conference every year in all sports then get creamed in 1 st round playoggs. This needs to be fixed. Come on Indy coaches, AD and principal and families. Start calling and emailing now.

The plans that Langston Wertz and one of the CMS ADs had in his blog earlier today were much better than this farce.

Langston

Please give phone numbers and email addresses for those that we need to call/write to express our concerners over this nonsense.

This suggestion by Wertz (I think) looked much better:

Mecklenburg County Conference 1 (the old Southwestern 4A): Ardrey Kell, Butler, East Mecklenburg, Garinger, Independence, Porter Ridge, Providence, Rocky River

Mecklenburg County Conference 2 (the old I-MECK 4A): A.L. Brown, Hopewell, Hough, Lake Norman, Mallard Creek, Mooresville, North Meck, Robinson, Vance

Mecklenburg County Conference 3 (the old MEGA 7): Berry, Charlotte Catholic, Harding, Myers Park, Olympic, South Meck, West Charlotte, West Mecklenburg

The names are listed in the post at top, Sue Doran and Que Tucker, state ads. Someone post info on contact. If we have to we will rally. Don't mess with Mint Hill!

Is it just me or is this the same person making all of these comments?

@6:33: Catholic is moving to 4A in the next realignment. Porter Ridge has no other place to go except to join in with Charlotte area 4A schools.

@6:59: Really? Get a mayor involved? I'm sure a mayor has better things to do with taxpayers' money.

@8:19: If you have to, you will rally? Over high school sports? We have freedoms being trampled on every day in society along with a national debt that will cripple us all, and high school conferences are what we need to rally about?

Geographically, is you look at latitude lines, these schools match up with each other. No one took longitude into account though. That explains the cross-county conferences.

This is a draft. Two more drafts may be released before a final decision is made next year - no need to get so worried about anything yet.

INDY PARENTS RIP INTO THESE TWO UNTIL THEY CHANGE US BACK TO CONF 4, THEY HAVE TOLD POWER STRUCTURE AT INDY THIS IS A DONE DEAL, THEY ARE TRYING TO DESTROY INDY ONCE AND FOR ALL! PARENTS YOU ARE THE LAST HOPE!

Anonymous said...

This is a real kick in the head for Independence and Mint Hill. I hate to whine about it but dang! First we get screwed around on the boundaries, the school facility and now this.

Anonymous said...

Yes comm. Whitfield, putting our kids on buses on Tuesday nights for a 50 mile roundtrip when schools 3 miles away are not on our schedule is ridiculous. I dare you to an analysis of Myers Park's travel to the conf. 5a schools and compare with Indy. Only Rocky River is cloer out of eight schools, much closer. Freedoms? Protesting the debt is fruitless and is out of hands and fruitless. Messing with our kids and town and school is a direct affront. So yes, that is worth fighting. You have messed with the wrong people.

Anonymous said...

That is stupid. Indy probably matches up with some Atlanta schools latitude wise. You have to combine the two.

Anonymous said...

9:33 you are an idiot. They are allowing split conferneces now. Porter Ridgecould stay in Union where it wants to be and Indy could stay in the SW4a. Done!

PARENTS RAISE IT AND ORGANIZE TO SAVE YOUR CHILDREN'S ATHLETIC EXPERIENCE OR THEY WILL LOOK BACK ON THIS TIME AS A WASTE! NCHSAA SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR DOING CMS DIRTY WORK! KNOTTS IS GONE U CAN'T HURT HIM ONLY THE KIDS!

Last year Berry Academy competed in 2a track and field and Harding competed in 3a. Does this mean they will have to actually step up to the 4a qualifying standards which are MUCH more difficult to reach?

Anonymous said...

I don't understand why they keep associating a 1400 student school ( Porter Ridge ) with 2200 student schools. Same for AL Brown & JM Robinson. SV,MR,Wedd & Piedmont are our natural rivals and we want it to stay that way.We have 50 more kids than MR or SV and they want to leave them here at 3a and move us to Charlotte 4a. I'm not sure who or why anyone would think that Porter Ridge would want to be in a conference with Meck. schools. That is ridiculous. Indy folks you are definitely getting a raw deal as well and you should be upset. If we were put into a Meck conference to not be in one with Indy would be asinine. Also I can't understand why a Private School (Charlotte Catholic)that recruits from all over the country is allowed to play in a public school conference where the other teams have to abide by boundary restrictions.

Anonymous said...

Gonna be an easy piece of cake for Kannapolis Brown to be conference champs the next 4 straight years and dont even try to say Mallard Creek will beat us.

We like this setup and with the 100year tradition of the Wonders winning 95% of its games overall it will walk all over all these teams and take at least 2 4AA state titles AND WONT CHOKE on the big one.

Anonymous said...

Another note for the record,,,,,,,,,if they let Porter Ridge and Sun Valley play together our combined schools would still have less kids in them (2780) than Myers Park (2833). Who's brain configured this one??? Porter Ridge should stay in 7A.

Anonymous said...

If travel is truly the concern then 4A should be:

Ardrey Kell,Butler,Providence,East Meck,South Meck,Independence,Rocky River,Ptr Rge.

5A should be:

Catholic,MyersPark,Olympic,Berry,
Garinger,Harding,West Charlotte & West Meck.

Anonymous said...

This alignment would still leave Porter Ridge(a 1430 student school)in a conference with schools who have an average of 2079 students. No where is it logical to bring Porter Ridge into a Meck conference.

Shiggy said...

I say we go the way of the SEC and ACC. Make 1 conference with 2 divisions.

Meck 4a East
1)Butler
2)Porter Ridge
3)East Meck
4)Independence
5)Rocky River
6)Ardrey Kell
7)Providence

Meck 4a West
1)Mallard Creek
2)Berry Academy
3)West Charlotte
4)Vance
5)West Meck
6)Harding
7)Garinger

Each team plays 9 conference games with 2 of them being from the opposing division. Then throw in 2 non-conference games for a 11 game schedule. All teams play each other once. This is just my opinion on the issue!!

Shiggy said...

Oops take away the All teams play each other once at the end of my last post..

Show me 1 "recruit" at Catholic. Name just 1. You can't can you? Never have and never will you must be confusing Catholic w Indy and Butler.
