After losing Friday’s N.C. 4A state championship in the final seconds, on a two-yard run from New Bern’s Jac Watkins, Porter Ridge’s players were understandably upset.
But after losing in the state finals for the second straight, by a score of 39-38, the Pirates applauded as a team when New Bern got its championship awards.
Afterwards, three different University of North Carolina workers reported to the N.C. High School Athletic Association that the Porter Ridge locker room was left in immaculate condition after the game.
The Pirates, while hurt and upset about the loss, picked up all their trash, thrown things away and even remembered to put the locker room stools back in their place.
It left quite an impression on the UNC facility staff.

great start!!! We have to own talent here!
Go 49ers
When did he commit? No more spots remaining.
I may have jumped the gun on this, but I saw him on campus getting a tour with coaches... After he left, they said they love him and they are waiting for a commitment from him!!! I did not see Vance play, but the kid's highlight is pretty good. So they must have something left. Who knows... I just can't wait for the season to start!!!
Go 49ers!!!
I believe some of these kids wait for the big offer, and miss The Offer. His offer is no longer committable at UNCC. A lot of these teams are starting on there 2014 class.
Guys please stop...this is still a kid. The offer is still on the table! All kids need to weigh their options because this is a major decision no one needs to rush due to fear of losing an offer. I personally spoke with the staff today and it is 100% an offer that is still on the table. UNCC has a great staff and I think they will put a great product on the field. Let's stay positive
