Last year, Hunter Huss won three football games and ended the season with a five game losing streak.
There may be no bigger surprise this season, then, than coach Steve Gardner’s Huskies, who have started the season 5-0 after last week’s 36-28 win over North Gaston.
Today, the Huskies join the Observer’s Sweet 16 at No. 16.
Huss has a big game Friday at home against No. 4 South Point. Both teams are 5-0, including 1-0 in the Big South 3A.
-- Huss was the only new team in the poll and the only movement was at No. 4 where South Point moved up one (and Rock Hill South Pointe moved up one to No. 5) after Porter Ridge fell two spots after a 10-7 win over private Providence Day Friday. South Point beat Kings Mountain 45-9 and Rock Hill South Point beat Rock Hill 28-21.
