Such class Butler's coach shows. Winning by 40 points wasn't enough for him with his 2nd string offense in the game, so he brings his first unit back in. "I didn't want to do it..." he says. Yet somehow needs to score 80 points in a game? How many of us will be cheering when Butler loses this year? Blame it on their classless coach...

100 % agree...what a terrible lesson to teach young men, to pour it on like at...despicable!

Good for Butler!

More details on the butler game... What exactly did the coach do and what were the circumstances surrounding that action?

Hales told our Corey Inscoe that he was disappointed in his 2s, so he put his 1s back in -- Langston

Anyone know if Davidson Days back up QB got in the game?

Here's the full quote from Hales about putting his 1st team back in. Came right after the second team QB threw a pick.

“I don’t think that those guys that were playing behind them came out and played hard enough. We’re not going to play people just because they’re here and just because they’re nice guys, they’ve got to be prepared to go out there and you can’t go out there and not know what to do. So that’s why I did it. And I didn’t want to. Trust me. I didn’t want to score that other touchdown. I think 80 points looks awful bad.”

DD backup played half the 3rd and all of the 4th

I know you r trying to be a jerk and start the year off hating on DD. they could have scored 100. The game ball goes to the defense. They played great. Albemarle might have had 3 first downs. They scored b/c DD fumbled a punt on the 5 yard line.

I don't think Davidson Day will hold up very well once it sees a little more competition.

Butler scoring 80 and people are angry Do you remember Mallard Creek, Independence consistently doing this to every team. It's football, WC's job is to stop Butler and they didn't! WC wouldn't hesitate to do it to other people.

Anon. 12:43: I think you miss the point. It's not the 80 points Butler scored that's the issue. It's their coach pulling their second string and putting their first string back in when the game was long past decided. That's not sportsmanship (at least not good, class sportsmanship) - and frankly, teaches these young athletes exactly the opposite of what so many people say competitive sports are supposed to teach. (And I could care less what other teams do - Tom Knotts was one of the worst - he could win games but certainly didn't do much for the caliber of his players in the way he did it.)

These are kids playing ball - not the "jr. NCAA / One day NFL maybe league...

Just saw this post on nc preps. this pretty much describes it. Don't think they'll hold up?

I'm trying to find words to describe what I saw tonight at Albemarle. Guess what? There are none. First off who in the hell scheduled this game. They must have been out of their mind. The game was over in the first 5 minutes. Total, total domination by DD, in every phase of the game. To their credit the coach for DD took Will out in the third quarter or I really believe they could have put 100 on Albemarle. Hard to believe . Albemarle is NOT in shape, they CANNOT block and for sure that was the Worst tackling I have ever seen from any team. All this hurts me to have to it say it but the truth is the truth. But in all fairness DD make us look bad in these areas. That is the most fundamentally sound team I have ever seen at the HS level. Another argument for public schools having to play private schools.
Now for the big question. How does Albemarle respond from this old timey ASS KICKING. I really don't have an answer for that. This is where the coaching staff has to earn their pay. In the final analysis was Davidson Day that

If DD played their backup QB that is a big improvement over last year. Good to hear. Would be good to leave the program with something next year.

Mallard Creek scored 60 or 70 points with their reserves, not by bringing their first string BACK on the field

Why haven't DD played Charlotte Christian. That looks like a better match up to me. Why have your fans and parents drive all the way down there for that.

hey truth take your comments somewhere else

Proud to see Dillon(SC) give Mallard Creek a good game. Those country boys from down my way(Florence) gave the city boys a good sweat!

whats lost in all of this is the worst night of football in marvin ridge history..an embarrassing blow out loss to a 1a school.dan bailey is 3 and 29 as a head coach. stupid hire by marvin. nearly as stupid as getting rid of chadwick, who always got the most out of his players.
