Butler coach expects "intense" atmosphere at Richmond Friday

Butler coach Mike Newsome said he expects an “intense” atmosphere when his team plays an N.C. 4AA quarterfinal at Richmond Senior Friday.

“It’s like I was telling the kids the other day, there’s more people from Richmond County than from Charlotte, probably, with us being such a transient town,” Newsome said. “They’reTheir families are coming home. Ours are leaving. People will want to go by and see the game. It’s the only game in town.”

Newsome said he’s especially concerned with stopping Richmond’s shotgun triple-option offense.

“You have to play assignment football,” Newsome said, “and you’re always worried if someone will miss an assignment or try to take someone elseselse’s. And the athletes they have running that offense is the biggest thing. I told my kids they tend to get better as the season wears on. In 2008, they were 4-3-1 and won the state championship. We’re going to go down there and have a battle.”

wonder if the Butler players will eat Thanksgiving in their rented apartments near the school or in their houses in Mint Hill (Indy's district)?

These are two very good programs and tomorrows game will most likely be decided by turn overs. I would not count either one out and remember next week it will be Mallard Creek Game for winner. I'm not betting on any one of the three. Raider fan here.

I bet it must really burn you about Butler even more "outdoors" poster above......It's funny to see all your pathetic complaints. Even better, MC qb was hurt and now Butler gets to play Vance instead......another state championship for Butler coming up.

Now we can see more of your misinformed information. At least you guys from EM can go and watch what a quality team looks like....hopefully you can take some notes. Say what you want but at the end of the day Butler will be state champs.
